It was my first time at Ashton Memorial situated above the city of Lancaster and I was incredibly impressed with this stunning building. At around 150 feet tall, it completely dominates the Lancaster skyline and is visible for miles, with views of the surrounding area including Morecambe Bay it is described as “England’s grandest folly”. If you’re interested in getting married at this incredible wedding venue then you can find out more about Lancaster’s Ashton Memorial on Lancaster City Council’s website.
Set in around 54 acres of beautiful woodland this wedding venue provided the perfect location for Jenny and Matty’s relaxed autumn wedding. Surrounded by their family and friends it was a lovely ceremony. Jenny, her bridesmaids and mum & dad arrived in a VW camper van and a VW Beetle – surprisingly Jenny and her dad were able to have the roof off the car because the sun was shining on this lovely bride as she arrived to tie the knot. The ceremony was lovely with three readings and some heartfelt personal vows. Once wed, it was time for confetti and some small group photos before the guests made their way to Lancaster Brewery as we spent some time in Williamson Park.
Couples portraits at Williamson Park
In late October you can expect some beautiful autumnal colours and that is exactly what we got today. Set in 54 acres of beautiful woodland this unique venue provided the perfect backdrop for some natural and relaxed couples portraits. We spent around 15 minutes in the park using this incredible venue as the perfect backdrop before heading to Lancaster Brewery.
Wedding reception at Lancaster Brewery
After tying the knot at Ashton Memorial we made the short journey down the road to the incredible Lancaster Brewery. I loved the idea that this quirky couple had of letting the guests pull their own wedding ale! Fish and Chips were on the menu for the guests supplied by the lovely Lake District Fish & Chip Van. After some drinks and food it was time for speeches and then cutting of the cake and the first dance! It was a super chilled wedding and you could tell everyone was having a great day. From start to finish I felt welcome at this wedding by the couple and the guests and I am delighted to share this blog with you.
